Welcome to Clitheroe District Scouts..
Welcome to the new Clitheroe District website. The site has been completely revised and updated and includes news, events and activities affecting Scouting within Clitheroe, the Ribble Valley and the surrounding villages. Click the links on the right hand side box to contact your local Scout Group and find out what Scouts are doing in your neighbourhood.
Scouting is very much alive and growing within Clitheroe District. We are now made up of 5 Groups within Clitheroe, 7 in the surrounding village and there are 2 Explorer Units for Scouts aged 14+. Many of the Scouts Groups have a Beaver colony (age 6-8), Cub Packs (age 8-10.5), and Scouts (10.5-14).
There is also a District Activities Team which organises a number of District Activities each year to which all Scouts are invited. Further information can be found on the news page (link at top of page).
As always, suggestions and ideas are welcome. Drop us a note on the contacts page. We'd love to hear from you.
News area..
Clitheroe St Paul's Cubs and Scouts paid tribute to the Royal Engineers on Remembrance Sunday by building a rope bridge aross the River Ribble near Edisford Bridge.
St Paul's Scouts had been exploring the links with the Royal Engineers who were based at Low Moor during World War 2 and the Scouts decided to understand the challenges that this local unit must have faced by building their own version of a river crossing using some traditional scouting skills.
Cubs and Scouts set out to build a monkey bridge using knot work, rope skills and pulley systems as well as using a lot of team work to build their bridge which took most of the day. However, they took short breaks to attend St Paul's Remembrance Service in the morning and Low Moor in the afternoon.
Congratulations to all involved.
